The Uberization of Money

The invention of Bitcoin gave individuals, businesses and governments the ability to program the characteristics of money in computer software that can be made accessible to any internet-connected device anywhere in the world without asking anyone for permission.

14 years later, Fiat currencies continue to decline in purchasing power, major US banks are failing, and powerful nations are moving away from US dollar reserves & oil trade. Meanwhile, Bitcoin is becoming increasingly attractive as a store of value and hedge against inflation, Europe is passing new regulatory guidelines for cryptoassets, and we have rumours of the BRICS nations creating a new currency that, if digital Yuan pilot schemes are anything to go by, could become one of the largest & most impactful Blockchain-based technology applications we have seen to date.

Yes, there is a lot going on and much uncertainty. However, one thing is for certain, like many things, money & currency are becoming more digitalised by the day - which brings us to the focal point of this event…

Come and join us on the 8th of June for the first event of our “Blockchain Vertical”, where we have gathered three special guests to form a panel. During this interactive event, our speakers will dive into what is happening on the global stage of economics, how Blockchain-based technologies are changing the dynamics of money, what trends we can expect to see over the following years, and how Europes new legislation (MiCA) is already affecting the digital asset space.

At the event, you are encouraged to ask questions and interact with our speakers, who include:

Pablo Campos - Most recently, Pablo was the Head of Market Intelligence at Bakkt following a role as the Senior Vice President of Strategy at Citi and before that, spent 6 years in senior positions at Visa.

Johannes Gugl - Johan was formerly a manager at KPMG and a Swiss family office but has spent the last five years advising, founding and investing in disruptive financial technologies, including a metal-backed stablecoin project and one of the first funds of funds focused in the DLT space.

Vicente Ortiz - Vicente is the Managing Director of VicoX, a Spanish and Portuguese law firm providing services to Blockchain, Gambling & Fintech companies, and part of a working group that maintains an open dialogue with authorities & regulators in Europe about sound regulatory frameworks surrounding Blockchain & DLT.

Moderating the panel will be Joe Jewson. Joe spent his early career in health sciences research, where his “follow the money to find the truth” attitude sent him down the rabbit hole of law, finance and economics, eventually landing him in the world of Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency.
